Jade MacRae and Karen Lee Andrews are two of Australia’s preeminent Soul and Blues voices. This is a rare opportunity to witness the two come together in a one off intimate show that will feature selections from both artists solo repertoires, coupled with some unique takes on material from the world's great Blues and Soul artists, current and classic. Both these women have their feet firmly planted in roots of Soul, Gospel and classic Rhythm and Blues sounds, and their shared Polynesian heritage provides a common backdrop which continues to inform their individual creative paths. Despite many common influences, these two artists possess distinctive, unmistakable and almost divergent vocal characters. Karen’s smoky gravel and grit, which transcends effortlessly to a sweet pure falsetto, answered by Jade’s unswerving power and jazz soaked phrasing - the combination of the two leaves no colour undiscovered, no emotion unexpressed. With Karen’s weighty guitar playing laying the foundation, Jade at the piano and Wurlitzer, and some very special surprise guests, this is sure to be a deeply moving night of Blues based music, not to be missed.
